Our garden is regularly visited by two to three adult robins. During the breeding season, we observe a pair of robins raising a brood of young throughout summer. Currently, in late August, our solitary robin is enjoying a respite from parental duties, perched and singing throughout the day and sometimes into the night.
Common name: Robin
Scientific name: Erithacus rubecula

The Robin
The robin (Erithacus rubecula) is a small, familiar bird found through out Britain. Its distinctive orange-red breast and cheerful song make it a beloved sight in gardens, woodlands, and parks.
I'd also like to pop in a disclaimer here - I'm a keen amateur, and not a professional botanist, gardener or wildlife expert. Although I'll do my best to check everything, if you see any errors, let me know. I have a keen interest in the wildlife that visits my garden, which I love to learn about.
